Russia’s Return to Africa
In response to both the demands of its historic “Muscovite” political culture and the setbacks in the once-promising relations with the West, Russia finds itself seeking to construct a global system within which its “great power” status is recognized. To this end, the Kremlin can no longer ignore Africa states, not only because of their numbers but because their natural resource wealth complements that held by Russia. While the web of strategic access and other ties that the Russians have been reconstituting and expanding across the continent does not necessarily presage a return to the Cold War era’s often-tragic zero-sum competition, other international actors heavily invested there no longer can ignore Moscow’s resurgent interest.

China’s gold strategy
All other members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation** are gold-friendly or have increased their gold reserves. So the west having ditched gold for its own paper will now find that gold has a new role as Asia's ultimate money for over 3 billion people, or over 4 billion if you include the South-East Asian and Pacific Rim countries for which the SCO will be the dominant trading partner.

Five Reasons Why 2014 was a Game Changer in Palestine | Palestine |Axisoflogic.com
2014 was a very painful year for Palestine, but also a year in which the collective resistance of the Palestinian people, and their supporters, proved too strong to bend or break. And in that, there can be much solace.
When will Palestinians learn? | Featured |Axisoflogic.com
Now just imagine if Israel and America wanted the Palestinians to sign the Rome document. Conjure the thought – for a split-second only – that Israel and America insisted that the Palestinians must abide by an international treaty and become members of the International Criminal Court to qualify for statehood. Abbas’s refusal to do so would be further proof of his “terrorist” intentions. Yet when Abbas does sign the Rome document, when the Palestinians want to abide by an international treaty, they must be punished – surely a “first” in modern history.

It is time to say ‘enough’ in Syria, starting with Aleppo | Opinion , Commentary | THE DAILY STAR
The series of international failures in this conflict so far is inexcusable. Each subsequent breakdown in negotiations, including the Geneva talks, has not only led away from peace, but has also contributed to calamitous developments, including the resurgence of extremist terrorism and the emergence of ISIS. International politics is witnessing exceptional and far-reaching change. Unless multipolarity is met with an efficient multilateral approach, problems like Syria’s civil war will become much more frequent – and more difficult to resolve. Syria, and its largest city, is the perfect place to start seeking a better way.
